Companies from around the region and abroad take part in Simcoe Muskoka Skilled Trades Expo

Several companies from around Simcoe County and abroad set up shop in the Elmvale arena on Thursday for the Simcoe Muskoka Skilled Trades Expo.

This year’s expo featured two sessions, including a student/school session during the day and a session geared toward the general public in the evening.

The early session gave students a chance to participate in hands-on demonstrations and interactive displays relating to dozens of skilled trades available in Simcoe County and Muskoka.

The evening session provided residents of all ages with an opportunity to learn more about area businesses and career opportunities in the skilled trades.

New this year, the evening event featured a live job fair, which gave participating businesses a chance to meet and interview skilled tradespeople during the event.

The Simcoe Muskoka Skilled Trades Expo was co-ordinated through a partnership between the County of Simcoe, Simcoe County District School Board, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, Simcoe Muskoka Workforce Development Board, City of Orillia, City of Barrie, Springwater Township and the Flos Agricultural Society.
