COLDWATER STEAMPUNK FESTIVAL

Make a splash, get Kraken, save the oceans and be inspired by Coldwater’s Steampunk Oceanic Festival! 

The fun begins Thursday, Aug. 9 with Rods and Classics on Main Street... enjoy photo ops with beautiful Steampunk Models. 

Friday, Aug. 10 begins with workshops and demonstrations by local artists at the new Creative Arts Plaza, 20 Coldwater Rd. Enjoy afternoon tea while playing croquet by the river. 

Friday continues into the night with Potterheads and Muggles descending on the village for the first ever Transfigured Friday. See Coldwater’s Mainstreet transformed into Daigon Alley. Hang out in Gryffindor’s common room, visit the Cupboard under the Stairs, and Platform 9 ¾. 

Snap photos with favourite characters and be part of moving pictures. Pick up your Coldwater Shops’ Passport and visit participating locations. Take part in Hogwarts activities and dance on the street to live music by the Joy Brigade. 

Saturday, Aug. 11 is full Steampunk ahead as the entire village of Coldwater transports back in time over 100 years. 

The biggest Steampunk event ever, come early and stay late as there will be live music on four stages, all-day entertainment and festival attendees who will amaze you with their stunning Oceanic themed costumes. 

Start your day at 9 a.m. at the Coldwater Mill Farmer’s Market. 

See Birds of Prey from the Wye Marsh and be in front of the Mill St. stage at 1 p.m. for the Costume Contest. 

Participate in a Mosaic Community Art Project, build LEGO, and make music with Galiah Gears.

Hop the shuttle to the Canadiana Museum to see MOTUS O, perform dance and theatre shows under the Big Tent. 

See Dueling Knights and Vikings by Medieval swordplay, historical re-enactments, and craft demo’s plus a working Blacksmith shop. 

Dog lovers be sure and visit Hill-Cress Dog Haven for all things canine including adoptions. 

Downtown on Mainstreet see Phill Holder’s eight-foot long Steampunk Submarine, and over 100 handmade vendor booths. See an Ocean Reef Fibre Arts Installation from the Espanola Fibrefest. 

Learn about shipbuilding in Coldwater, take part in free interactive crafts and a scavenger hunt. Have ice cream with the Empress of India. 

Enjoy circus variety acts, street buskers and face painting plus Mental Floss Sideshow. Watch out for Canada’s own James Harrison, The Pickpocket Magician.  Cut through the alley way to the Coldwater Bowling Centre, for the Hoodlum, Bedlam Car Show, complete with over $500 in prizes for vehicle entries! 

There is so much more going on… please visit the website for the festival program. Costumes encouraged but not required… the show goes on… rain or shine! (Don’t forget the goggles).
