Happy trails and happy tales

Orillia Public Library hosts story walk at Scout Valley

Kids followed the trail to learn the tale of a pancake-eating pig Friday morning.

The Orillia Public Library hosted one of its free family story walks at Scout Valley.

After listening to a reading of Laura Numeroff’s If You Give a Dog a Donut, the children took to the trail, stopping along the way to read from the pages of the author’s other work, If You Give a Pig a Pancake. The pages were placed at various spots along the trail.

The library has four more story walks planned for this year. Each one starts at 10:30 a.m.

The schedule is as follows: June 29 at Tudhope Park, July 16 at Couchiching Beach Park, Aug. 31 on the Leacock Museum grounds, and Sept. 8 at Victoria Park.
