NEWS RELEASE
ORILLIA GANARASKA TRAIL HIKING CLUB
***********************

The Orillia Ganaraska Trail Club’s hardy hikers are currently using the rail trail as it exits Orillia going towards Oro-Medonte Township as the trail conditions in the forests are quite tricky due to the chilly weather and freeze/thaw patterns that have occurred in recent weeks.

Despite that, this is a good time for beginner hikers, as the hikes are fairly easy, said club president Carol Strickland.

The club will host a public hike in Scout Valley on April 21. Hikers are asked to meet at the Regan House parking lot at 10 a.m. Members of the public are welcome; just show up wearing good walking shoes/boots, carrying water.

Following that event, there will be a series of four beginner hikes – all free – on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m, starting April 25.

Contact Carol at 705-325-1065 for further details on either the public hike or the introductory hikes.
