ORILLIA PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS GROUP

The Orillia Prostate Cancer Awareness group will host Dr. Christiaan Stevens on Wednesday, April 25.

Stevens, who is head of oncology at Royal Victoria Hospital (RVH), is responsible for overseeing treatments in Simcoe County. He will speak to the group about current treatments for high risk and advanced prostate cancer.

Initial therapies are conducted at Sunnybrook Hospital using brachytherapy, while the RVH concludes prostate cancer treatment with radiation. All residents are invited to join the session to hear about the new developments in the treatment of prostate cancer.

The group will meet at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34, 215 Mississaga St. E. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and Stevens will begin his talk at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be available.
