The Orillia section of the Ganaraska Hiking Club starts a new season of hiking May 1, but that doesn’t mean hiking stops in the meantime.

At this time of year, it's just a matter of figuring out what is the appropriate footwear for the ever-changing conditions of spring.

On Thursday, an enthusiastic group of local hikers enjoyed traipsing through the Amos Track of the Simcoe County Forest.

Orillia is blessed with many beautiful hiking possibilities within a short drive’s distance.

Scout Valley is an Orillia jewel that has our trail running through it, as well as many other trails that loop around through wetlands, uplands, crossing streams, and climbing hills.

On Saturday, April 20 (Easter Saturday),the club will host a hike in Scout Valley that is open to the public, for anyone who would like to join us for a couple of hours.

Meet at the Regan House parking lot of Scout Valley, off Line 15 Oro-Medonte North, at 10 am.

Come on out and enjoy a walk in the woods!

For more information about this hike, contact Wendy at 705-238-7217, or for more on the club, check out our website.
