How low can we go?  Barrie has smashed an 84-year-old weather record for cold temperatures.

We set a new temperature record for the coldest Dec. 28. The new record is -32.6.  The old record was -26.7 set in 1933.

Records started in 1866.

The wind chill at 8 a.m. was -40 at the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport.

And on that frosty note, Kempenfelt Bay is frozen over, although it's too soon to break out the ice huts.

Windsor, Kitchener, Niagara Falls and Kingston also set new records for low temps.
