Hundreds of students from schools throughout the Orillia region congregated at Mount St. Louis Ski Resort on Thursday for the annual Area 2 Cross-Country Running Championship.
The athletes were broken up by gender and age. The day started off with the Grade 4 girls race, which was followed by the Grade 5 boys race and it followed that pattern until late in the afternoon when the event concluded with the Grade 8 boys competition.
The top 10 finishers in each of the races will move on to next week’s Simcoe County Championship, where they will meet the top finishers from the other area competitions being held in other parts of the county this week.
