We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the Village Media Journalism Scholarship Program. This new initiative is made possible as a direct result of the support of our OrilliaMatters+ members.

If you are a student or know of a student pursuing a post-secondary education in the field of journalism this September, we want to hear from you!

Recipients will have a profile featuring them (including their photo and essay) published on our Village Media websites.

Who is eligible?

Students enrolled in a post-secondary journalism program starting this September.

How do you submit your application for the scholarship?

You can enter by submitting an essay (between 500 - 1000 words) on the importance of local journalism, as well as your information, here.

Entries must be submitted by the end of day on Aug. 27, 2021. Full details and submission rules are here.

We are thrilled to offer this opportunity to the journalists of tomorrow.

A sincere thank you to our OrilliaMatters+ members for helping to fund local journalism, whether that's broadening local coverage, adding new jobs, or creating scholarships like this for the next generation of reporters.
