Weather advisory in effect for:
    •    Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

Winter Weather Travel Advisory in effect until early this evening.

Bands of heavy lake effect snow are expected to affect the area until early evening. These bands are not expected to lock in for an extended period of time which should help to limit accumulations.

However, brief periods of very heavy snowfall and poor visibilities are expected. Local snowfall amounts up to 10 centimetres are likely by tonight. Travel is expected to be hazardous at times.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.

Snow squall watch in effect for:
    •    Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale

Snow squalls likely tonight into early Friday morning.

Some light snowfall is expected to affect areas southeast of Georgian Bay today in association with an approaching cold front. The snow should intensify this evening and isolated snow squalls are expected. This is due to winds becoming more northwesterly after the passage of the cold front. Snow squalls will become isolated overnight and Friday morning.

The snow squall activity should weaken late Friday morning.

Some areas may see snowfall accumulations in excess of 15 cm by Friday.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.

Snow squall warning in effect for:
    •    Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake

Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.

Snow squalls are moving across the region.

Snow squalls are affecting areas near Georgian Bay. For the most part, the activity is rather disorganized, but occasional bursts of heavy snowfall along with very poor visibility can be expected.

The activity should slowly shift southward during the day as winds become more northwesterly behind a passing cold front.

Accumulations up to 15 cm are possible by later tonight.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
