Getting out into the field will be an essential part of the workshops offered by the Ontario Master Naturalist Program (OMNP) at Lakehead University Orillia this fall.
Combining field experience and classroom instruction, the five single-day workshops will range in topic from early and late mushroom identification to moss and lichen to migrating birds. Participants can join for one area of interest, or choose to enroll for all five.
Taught by environmental experts and naturalists, such as Ontario Master Naturalist Program coordinator Bob Bowles and Tristan Knight of Terrastory Environmental Consulting, workshops will take place Saturdays starting Sept. 14 at the Lakehead Orillia campus on University Avenue.
“By hosting these special interest workshops, we are hoping to continue introducing the public to the wonders of our unique ecology and engage them in the study of our natural communities,” said Bowles. “Through our passion and experience, they will gain a special appreciation for nature and become stewards of their local resources.”
These introductory workshops are open to everyone and are designed as special interest sessions for naturalists.
Pre-registration is required. The fee is $79 (plus HST) per workshop.
