Tops in Pizza will be giving away free pizza to front-line workers on Wednesday, in partnership with Mark Goode Mortgage Man Dominion Lending Centres.

Orillia and Rama Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Services, and Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital employees will be able to order one three-topping medium pizza at no charge, as long as they show their credentials at the time of pick up.

“Mark approached us last week and he wanted to do something for the front-line workers and those who work in the emergency services to give them a big thank you for the work they have done and what they are doing still,” explained Christopher Marinakos, co-owner of Tops in Pizza.

“As community-minded people we obviously agreed to Mark’s proposal," said Marinakos. "Giving back to our community is really important to us.”

Tops in Pizza is hopeful that providing a meal to front-line workers might bring them some cheer during a dark and uncertain time period.

“We know these workers have been put through a roller coaster of emotions during these tough times, so it’s nice to be able to put a smile on someone’s face and give them some kind of light,” he said.

Mark Goode, mortgage broker at Mark Goode Mortgage Man Dominion Lending Centres, says he is more than happy to be taking care of the bill for the many front-line workers who work in Orillia.

“They’ve had a long stretch here for about a year, and they haven’t had much of a break where everyone else has been able to work from home,” Goode explained.

"They have faced it every day. They’ve been shorthanded with employees and support, so we wanted to cheer them up and give them a day to say thanks.”

Goode says he is hopeful that his generous effort will also spread awareness for supporting local businesses during the pandemic.

“We also wanted to help a local small pizza place that is up against some big places now, Papa John’s just moved in close to them, they have Domino’s Pizza close by, and some of the other bigger players, so we wanted to help support Tops as well,” he said.
