This holiday season, Metro is once again teaming up with local charities for their annual Food Donation Bag program.

The program offers local shoppers an opportunity to give back to their community through the purchase of a donation bag in-store or online.

Last year, Metro Orillia was one of the top five donating locations in Ontario, raising more than $14,000 worth of food collection - an incredible feat.

This year, food donation bags will go to The Sharing Place. On top of these donation bags, Metro will donate up to 75,000 meals to Feed Ontario.

And the need is more acute than ever - as Sharing Place officials have reported lately.

It's a situation playing out throughout Ontario.

Each year, more than 500,000 people visit an Ontario food bank with one in every third person being a child.

Millions of meals are desperately needed, which is why for every donation bag purchased in December, Metro will also donate $1 to Feed Ontario.
