Local hiking enthusiasts revel in the great outdoors on snowshoes

Members of the Orillia chapter of the Ganaraska Hiking Club enjoyed near perfect early-winter conditions today

Just because snow has arrived, that doesn't mean the hiking season is over. It just means it's time to trade in those walking shoes for snowshoes.

And that's what several members of the Orillia chapter of the Ganaraska Hiking Club did Thursday.

It was a good day for an early winter snowshoe with snow not too deep and packing only slightly. The mild weather was perfect for the activity and the fresh snow provided a pretty backdrop as they snowshoed along the Barrie section of the Ganaraska Trail, starting from behind the Midhurst Community Centre.

The club welcomes anyone to join the club on their hikes. The schedule can be found on their website, www.ganaraska-hiking-association.org.
