Eight more artists have been added to an-already impressive lineup for this summer’s Mariposa Folk Festival.

A renowned star in his native Senegal, Élage Diouf is a master percussionist and singer-songwriter whose music is a wonderful melange of pop, world, blues, folk and asiko. His live performances invite audience participation, and the warmth and remarkable quality of his voice, combined with varied musical and cultural influences, evoke sundry artistic dimensions.

Bryden Gwiss Kiwenzie has Ojibway, Odawa, Potawatomi, Delaware, Oneida and Mi’kmaq in his blood line. Growing up on the Pow Wow trail he went up to the drum as a toddler and never left. His joy of singing and dancing shines brightly and is moving to anyone lucky enough to be within earshot.

Funk and R&B band, The Free Label, evokes a period, style and genre that was a la mode long before the members of this five-piece ensemble were born. Their youthful zeal and 21st century take on the music they so obviously love is intoxicating and turns heads every time they hit the stage.

The Slocan Ramblers are rooted in tradition, fearlessly creative, and boast a bold, dynamic sound. This bright light on Canada’s roots music scene has earned a reputation for energetic live shows and impeccable musicianship, converting anyone within earshot into an enthusiastic fan. Their smokin’ brand of bluegrass is something you won’t soon forget.

There are plenty of singer-songwriters who plumb the depths of personal experience, but few have the profound sense of humour, or sharp eye for detail, of Treasa Levasseur. She’s an accomplished multi-instrumentalist too, playing piano, accordion, guitar and mandolin, and tunes that range from folk, blues and country, to sunshine pop, heavy metal and hip-hop.

Shreem x Celtic Remixing breathes new life into traditional Celtic music, infusing it with a fresh, modern feel. Shreem has developed a new sound, blending Celtic, electronic, and hip-hop music with hard-hitting drums and powerful, warm melodies. Shreem's live performance is reminiscent of a 'down home East Coast' kitchen party but is NOT your average ceilidh!

Powerful and raw, Cécile Doo-Kingué’s lyrics, guitar prowess and sound make for an enthralling, intimate communion. Born and raised in New York City, her roots are in Cameroon, she lived in France, and now is a Montreal-based musician that blends blues, afro-roots and soul for a truly unique and original sound.

Dave Penny is a performer whose self-penned songs and wry observations evoke the soul and spirit of Newfoundland. A virtuoso accordion player, Dave offers comedic yet incisive commentary on life in general and life on The Rock in particular, whether it be sung with a Celtic lilt or presented in the traditional style of Newfoundland recitation.

They will be joined by some world-renowned artists that include Walk Off The Earth, Allan Doyle, Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets, Valdy, Bahamas and many others.

Mariposa Folk Festival takes place July 6, 7, and 8 2018, in beautiful Tudhope Park in Orillia, on the shores of scenic Lake Couchiching. The three-day event features the best folk-roots music on the North American scene as well as story, dance and craft on more than ten stages.
