Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were dispatched at 12:49 p.m. Aug. 19 to a report of a man found in the water with vital signs absent. Also dispatched were members of the Tiny Township Fire Service and the County of Simcoe Paramedic Service to a waterfront location between the 4th and 3rd concession (Bluewater Beach) of Tiny Township.

A 35-year-old man visiting the area was found underwater by the friends he was swimming with at that location. CPR was commenced by good Samaritans on the beach once he was removed from the water. Emergency services attended and continued CPR on the man, who was transported to Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland by paramedics.

Sadly, the man was pronounced deceased by attending physicians at the hospital. His name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is continuing.
