More than 700 coats collected in winter coat drive

And some lovely, freshly knitted hats as well

NEWS RELEASE
SIMCOE COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
*************************
Take three community organizations – the Orillia Learning Centre, Simcoe Alternative SS and the Champlain Seniors Service Club – add one partner, Fabricare Cleaning Center, and mix well for a successful eighth annual Winter Coat Drive.

The result: more than 700 clean, warm winter coats were collected and distributed to Orillia and surrounding communities!

Thanks to the generosity of our partner, Fabricare Cleaning Center, for the donation of their services and the help from their staff. A huge thank you to KICX 106, Sunshine 89.1, Rock 95, 104.1 The Dock, Orillia Packet & Times, Orillia Today, CTV News Barrie, Simcoe Review, Information Orillia and OrilliaMatters for sharing information about the coat drive.

We would also like to thank the Orillia District Agricultural Society for lending us the numerous coat racks required for organization and display, and to the Wihlidal Family Chiropractic Clinic for providing a drop-off site for donations.

Thank you as well to the generous knitters who made beautiful hats to go with the coats. Thank you to the residents of Orillia and surrounding communities for your donations of warm winter coats. Because of you, many families were kept warm this winter!

We look forward to the ninth annual Winter Coat Drive, and will be collecting coats from Oct. 15 to Nov. 30, 2018.

Sincerely,
Staff and students of the Learning Centres Orillia, Simcoe Alternative SS and members of the Champlain Seniors Service Club
