A teenager wanted in the death of an Orillia man has turned himself in to police.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday, the suspect surrendered to police in Toronto, said Orillia OPP Sgt. Peter Leon.

He was wanted for second-degree murder in the death of Jordan Carter-Bonfield, whom the OPP confirmed in a news release Thursday night was the victim.

Emergency crews responded to the parking lot of Tim Hortons on Westmount Drive on Monday at about 7:30 a.m., where Carter-Bonfield, 25, was found “in medical distress.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday, police arrested 20-year-old Andrew Franklin, of Orillia, and charged him with accessory after the fact to murder. The same day, police obtained a court order to release the name and a photo of a suspect wanted for second-degree murder, a 17-year-old from Pickering.

“An arrest has been made and any reference to the identified person, inclusive of name and pictures, must be removed from any social media platform or internet related posting immediately in accordance to the statute,” police stated in Thursday’s press release.

Leon confirmed to OrilliaMatters the suspect was arrested without incident after turning himself in Thursday night in Toronto. He is being held for a bail hearing expected to take place Friday.
