A man charged with first-degree murder following a fatal stabbing earlier this month in downtown Barrie appeared in court today.
Cory Greavette, 28, appeared via video in bail court Wednesday morning.
He has been charged with the stabbing death of 30-year-old Ryan Babineau.
Greavette, of no fixed address, has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and disguise with intent after he was arrested at a Barrie residence on Nov. 21.
Babineau was killed Nov. 16 at a lower-level apartment behind 16 Dunlop St. E. He died at the hospital from his injuries, which an autopsy determined were consistent with a stabbing.
Greavette is scheduled to appear in bail court via video again on Friday, Dec. 6.
Earlier this week, city police announced they had linked two more people to the homicide investigation.
One is a 25-year-old man, who is in custody for an unrelated matter, is expected to be charged at a later date. His name has not been released.
The second suspect is 26-year-old Tyler Wren, of no fixed address, who remains on the loose. He is described as five-foot-six and weighing 188 pounds with a thin build, brown hair, blue eyes, a beard and small facial tattoos under each eye.
Wren was due in court Wednesday on an unrelated drug and fail to comply chargesm but his whereabouts remain unknown.
Police say Wren is considered dangerous and anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
