For the first time ever, safety training and licensing for snowmobilers will be available online.

In response to long-standing requests from the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC), Ontario Minister of Transportation John Yakabuski said in a news release, "We recognize that safety is critical and it starts with proper rider training and licensing. We also recognize that the delivery of this online service will be an effective way to reach — and teach — new generations of snowmobile riders."

Administered through a long-standing partnership between the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs and the Ministry of Transportation, the safety and licensing courses have historically been taught in class.

"Expanded training options are not only a convenience, they will ultimately contribute toward a safer snowmobiling environment." said Ryan J. Eickmeier, OFSC executive director.

With the development of the online option, it's anticipated safety and licensing training will serve a great number of people in many more areas throughout the province.

Along with its volunteers and members, the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs and the Ministry of Transportation's programs and partnerships make Ontario's 32,000 kilometres of snowmobile trails a premier destination for tourists and locals alike.
