Ontario confirms 78 new COVID cases today, some data missing

The information usually included from Toronto Public Health was 'unavailable' today, which could mean an underestimation of the daily case count

Public Health Ontario reported 78 lab-confirmed new cases of COVID-19 today, but the update indicated today's information was incomplete due to Toronto Public Health's data being unavailable. 

Toronto uses its own reporting software, which was unavailable for the provincial update. 

There were actually 80 new cases reported by health units in today's provincial summary, but Huron Perth removed two previously-reported cases from the list, bringing the net total to 78 cases. 

There have been no deaths reported today, and the province has noted another 99 recoveries of previously-reported coronavirus cases. 

Of today's reported new cases, 50 are individuals between the ages of 20 and 59, and none are over the age of 80. 

Peel region reported the highest increase today with 19 new cases of COVID. Ottawa reported 10 new cases, and the rest of the health units in Ontario reported between zero and nine new cases. 

To-date, the province has confirmed 40,367 cases of the novel coronavirus, and reported 36,689 recoveries. Public Health Ontario states 2,787 cases have ended in death. 

Based on the information provided in today's epidemiological summary, there are 891 active, lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario, but that doesn't include new cases not yet reported from Toronto Public Health.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 669 cases of COVID-19 to date, with 637 of those cases located in Simcoe County.

There are 621 cases now recovered and 37 people have died in the region. 

There are still 11 active cases in the county including residents from Barrie (4), Bradford (1), Orillia (1), New Tecumseth (2), Innisfil (1), Essa (1), and Ramara (1). There is one active case in Muskoka.

In Simcoe-Muskoka, the incidence rate for the coronavirus is 112.2 cases per 100,000 people in the population.
