Public Health Ontario reported 727 new COVID cases today.
The latest updates noted 814 recoveries and eight deaths that occurred over the last month.
Another three deaths that occurred more than one month ago were also added, for a total of 11 deaths in this update.
The Sept. 24 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:
- The new cases include 447 unvaccinated cases, 56 partially vaccinated cases, 170 fully vaccinated cases and 54 cases where the vaccination status is unknown.
- There are 108 unvaccinated people in ICU with COVID-19, as well as 111 partially vaccinated and 11 fully vaccinated.
- There are 122 unvaccinated people hospitalized, but not in the ICU, for COVID-19, as well as nine partially vaccinated and 39 fully vaccinated.
- 5,747 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 5,845 yesterday.
- 308 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.
- There are 167 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 26 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
- There are 117 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 17 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID.
- 10,406,874 Ontarians (about 70 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated and another 752,586 (five per cent of Ontario population) have a single dose of COVID vaccine. 85 per cent of eligible Ontarians have at least one dose of vaccine.
- The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is 10.2 cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, five cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 1.6 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
- The province reported 36,855 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.8 per cent positivity rate.
- Of the new cases reported today, 144 are from Toronto, 83 are from Peel, 19 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 54 are from York Region.
- Today's new cases include 143 individuals under 12 years old, 81 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 252 people between 20 and 39 years old, 177 people between 40 and 59 years old, 58 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 17 people over 79 years old.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 582,635 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 567,200 recoveries and 9,688 deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, 29,727 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 5,808 of them were in intensive care units.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,954.4 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 33.6 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 4.3 per cent compared to the week of Sept. 8-14.

Simcoe-Muskoka
Yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 16 new COVID cases.
There are 161 active cases in the region.
Five people from Simcoe County are hospitalized with COVID-19.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 13,398 cases of COVID-19 with 12,978 of those cases recovered and 259 cases ending in death.
The region's weekly incidence rate is 23.3 cases per 100,000 for the week beginning Sept. 14, which is down by 23.1 per cent compared to the week beginning Sept. 8.
