The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a man after recovering several pieces of heavy equipment in Oro-Medonte.

On Oct. 17, 2019, members of the Orillia OPP detachment, Orillia Crime Unit and Community Street Crime Unit collaborated in an ongoing investigation which has resulted in the recovery of over $500,000 of stolen heavy equipment, vehicles and trailers to date. 

As a result, 44-year-old Hughie Quinn has been arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, section 355(a). 

The accused is being held in custody and is set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on October 18, 2019.

The accused was involved in a driveway paving operation while utilizing stolen heavy equipment. Police are seeking anyone who has knowledge of the events or has seen any suspicious equipment. Officers value your contribution to building safe communities.
