The 39th annual Orillia Perch Festival started this weekend.
Hundreds of anglers will be heading out on local lakes looking for a lucky perch worth up to $1,000.
The Orillia OPP is reminding people to be careful on the water and they have some important tips for you.
Just click on the video below to hear Orillia OPP Const. Martin Hill talk about the importance of keeping safe while enjoying your time fishing.
And, don't forget, the festival's popular OPP Kids Day happens May 4, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Tudhope Park.
The @OntLakeCountry #perchfest starts today. This starts a new season on the water and new water #safety season. Wearing life jackets is always a good idea near water especially for children. PFD's are required on kayaks, canoes and paddleboards. @cityoforillia #OrilliaOPP^mh pic.twitter.com/HCMuBxlpeY
