The Orillia Concert Band will present Winter Rocks March 3 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Centre located at 62 Peter St. N. in downtown Orillia.

During the most eclectic evening of music in years, The Orillia Concert Band will “rock out” with VK and the NARROWS and soloist Christina Bosco.

Why not come and hear the music of Queen, The Beatles, and The Phantom of the Opera, proving just how many genres have rock in the title, or rock as their foundation.

Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for children, $10 for students, $15 for adults or $30 for a family. This concert is sponsored by Richard’s Jewelry Design. If you have any questions, email [email protected]

The Orillia Concert Band, established in 1986, is a 45-member recreational band based in the Orillia area, featuring wind, brass and percussion instruments. The band played under the name Orillia Wind Ensemble for a number of years, but last season the band returned to its roots and re-adopted its original name: Orillia Concert Band. James Hilts is the Music Director.

The Orillia Concert Band’s mission is to be a quality concert band for the Orillia and district area, to serve as a vehicle for experienced amateur musicians to further develop and maintain their skills, to perform traditional and contemporary concert band repertoire and to promote Canadian music by programming Canadian music and featuring Canadian soloists.

The Orillia Concert Band, in addition to its three-concert series, plays at community events and retirement homes.

VK and the NARROWS is an Orillia-based roots rock band with uniquely original material. Their creative sound of driving rhythms, powerful leads and rich harmonies is coupled with evocative lyrics that reflect upon life experience and perspective. The group is heavily influenced by such iconic Canadian artists as: The Band, Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young, Blue Rodeo, The Guess Who and the Tragically Hip.

Christina Bosco is a well-known classical and contemporary vocal soloist who has been the music director at Twin Lakes Secondary School in Orillia since 2003, and was the music director for the Mariposa Arts Theatre’s most recent production of the musical Chicago in November 2017. Graduating from the highly acclaimed voice program at the University of Western Ontario, Bosco is actively involved with the performing arts. From being the president of the award-winning choir, Les Choristes, to studying horn with world renowned Eric Shultz, she challenges her students to live by her same ideals. In addition to her teaching and solo performing career, Bosco has been a member of the Shawn Mei band since 2001, performing at Casino Rama and various other corporate functions.
