NEWS RELEASE
GETMUNCHESS
********************
GetMunchees is a brand new business catering to the evening snacker, that was recently opened by Brad Watts and Mark Combot.
GetMunchees is a “virtual” store. Every day between 4 p.m. and midnight hungry snackers can place orders online using the services of SkiptheDishes, DoorDash and Uber Eats for at-home delivery.
The two local men understand this business, as they also work for the food delivery services and met while delivering food for local restaurants.
The concept originated from a conversation they had in late October regarding ghost kitchens. Five weeks later, on Dec. 1, they were open for business.
Food delivery has become more prominent in the last two years and they feel the timing for this type of business is perfect.
Combot and Watts believe they are able to keep their prices competitive because they do not need to pay for a high-profile retail location.
GetMunchees has a wide range of products available including pop and energy drinks, potato chips and nachos, chocolate bars, candy, beef jerky, popcorn, cakes, cookies, and ice cream.
“We are definitely not in the health food business,” says Combot.
They were fortunate to have met Anitta Hamming, owner and president of Creative Nomad Studios, who made space available to them at her Mississaga Street location, across from the Opera House.
“It was important for us to be located at the centre of Orillia so our delivery drivers could easily pick up orders and promptly deliver them to our customers," explained Combot.
"Creative Nomad Studios was the perfect location. Anitta appreciated the challenges we faced as a business start-up, and she was more than willing to accommodate us.”
Combot and Watts each bring unique skills and experience to their new venture and when asked about the future plans, Watts laughed and said: “If this concept works in Orillia, it will work anywhere.”
The two are very hopeful regarding the future of GetMunchees.
