ORILLIA LIONS CLUB

For more than 80 years, members of the Orillia Lions Club have raised money and volunteered their time to support our community, with a primary focus of helping the blind and youth. This year, we are excited to announce a new fundraising event that will help us continue this support and fund new youth learning initiatives.
The Walk, Run or Wheel for Youth Education will be held Sunday, May 6 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Tudhope Park. The event will mark the start of Education Week.
Funds raised will be used to support youth learning. Specifically, starting this year, we will be awarding $1,000 bursaries to two Orillia secondary school students who are blind or living with low vision and pursuing post-secondary education at university, college, apprenticeship or other trade program.
This fundraiser will also assist in our continued support of other youth learning, such as the Orillia Youth Centre programs, the Orillia Public Library summer reading program, the Lakehead University Humanities 101 program and local camps for youth with special medical needs.
There is no entrance fee to participate; all we ask is that participants do their best to obtain donations. The walking trail is fully accessible, so anyone can participate. Service animals and leashed or carried pets are welcome. Participant registration begins at noon with the Walk, Run or Wheel starting at 1 p.m. Participants can opt for 2.5 km for 5 km.
