Orillia man charged in crash that killed woman and her son

Collision in Mississauga on Nov. 1 also left father seriously injured

MISSISSAUGA — Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau have made an arrest in relation to a Mississauga collision that claimed two lives and left a third occupant in critical condition.

On Thursday, Nov. 1, at approximately 2:04 a.m., a grey Hyundai was travelling northbound on Mavis Road, when it collided with a black Nissan that was travelling eastbound on Burnhamthorpe Road. As a result of the collision, Sanket Dogra, the 33-year-old father, suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital. His wife, Khushbu Arora, 31, and their two-year-old son, Prakrit Dogra, from Mississauga, both died from their injuries.

On Tuesday, Nov. 27, investigators from the Major Collision Bureau arrested 18-year-old Evan Campbell of Orillia.

Campbell has been charged with two counts of criminal negligence causing death and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

Campbell has been held for a bail hearing to take place on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Investigators are interested in speaking with any witnesses who may have seen the collision, have video footage of the incident or anyone who may have information regarding the actions of the driver prior to the collision.
