Orillia mayor warns of increased restrictions, enforcement

In a video address to citizens, Steve Clarke urges people to be vigilant, noting the next two weeks 'are critical' in fight against spread of COVID-19

Orillia Mayor Steve Clarke is providing regular video updates to the community to help keep citizens informed about the city's response to COVID-19.

The mayor, who declared a state of emergency in Orillia on March 20, said the "next couple of weeks are absolutely critical" in stopping the spread of the deadly virus that has already claimed the lives of two Orillia seniors.

Clarke is pleading with people to step up and do their part in staying home, ensuring physical distance and keeping trips outside the home to essential needs.

He said: "If we don't see complete compliance, we will have no choice but to restrict ... and enforce further."
