NEWMARKET – Board members and staff of the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) express sincere condolences and deep sadness at the passing of Oro-Medonte Councillor Scott Macpherson, who was also the Vice Chair of LSRCA’s Board of Directors.

“Councillor Macpherson was a steadfast supporter of the work of the Conservation Authority,” said York Region Chairman and CEO and Chair of LSRCA, Wayne Emmerson. “I know I speak for our entire board when I characterize him as a gentleman and champion for his local community as well as our watershed community. Scott always had a smile to share and was never short on kind words and insightful contributions around the boardroom table. We will truly miss him.”

“As a former executive member with the Toronto Region Conservation Authority and the Sauble Valley-North Grey Conservation Authority, Councillor Macpherson brought a keen awareness and understanding of the environment to his role as a board member for both LSRCA and the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation,” said Mike Walters, LSRCA’s Chief Administrative Officer.

“As an advocate of the work that the Conservation Authority does, Vice Chair Macpherson was always well prepared to participate in discussion and tough decisions. His passing is a true loss for the Conservation Authority and I know the same will be felt by all who knew him.”

The Board and the staff of the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority wish to offer their thoughts and prayers to Scott’s two sons, extended family, friends and the Township of Oro-Medonte community during this time.
