A man charged with first-degree murder following a shooting in January at an Oro-Medonte residence made a court appearance Tuesday.
Peter Vanderveen, 69, of Oro-Medonte, is accused of shooting Lee William Lackey, 34, on Jan. 30 at a home on Line 10 North. He was originally charged with attempted murder, but it was upgraded to first-degree murder after Lackey died in hospital a few days later.
In Orillia court on Tuesday, Vanderveen was brought into the prisoners’ box wearing a black and grey plaid shirt, occasionally smiling and waving at three women in the gallery.
His case was put over to March 26, when he will return to Orillia court.
