Shop with Monty The Alpaca

Meet an adorable alpaca at local shops and businesses while you get your holiday shopping groove on. Monty the alpaca is Oro-Medonte’s Chamber of Commerce new mascot, and he’s ready to make special guest appearances at local shops and have his photos taken with fans.

Monty the alpaca is part of the Oro-Medonte Chamber of Commerce shop local program, which encourages people to make a difference by supporting local and family-owned businesses.  

Snap your own Insta-worthy image with Monty at The Lovely Teahouse on Highway 11 on Dec. 11 from 3 to 5 p.m., at North Bound Rustic on Dec. 18 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and on Dec. 12 at Warminster Parade.

The Lovely Teahouse

Experience stellar tea service, homemade meals, unique gift shopping and more in this authentic Victorian house. The Lovely Teahouse, formerly known as the Flowered Cow, is now in a brilliant new location on Highway 11 at Line 5 South, the Teahouse has flourished and grown to include greater shopping and dining options.

The main floor is home to the Teahouse which seats about 50 guests in three charming theme rooms. Enjoy afternoon tea, with scones and cookies, or special high tea evenings with shepherd’s pie or Irish stew on the menu. For the winter months, cozy comfort soups, quiche and salad have been added to the menu, along with a variety of new scones.

On the second floor, get your “retail therapy” fix while supporting many local artisans. Several fabulous female-run businesses are now based here, offering beauty products, home décor, painting supplies, ladies and children’s wear, flower bouquets and more. Currently, many holiday-themed items are available including pillows, throws, tea towels, signs and more.

Get your tickets for an upcoming special Christmas Tea as well as The Lovely Teahouse “Sip & Shop” a private shopping event which includes holiday tea trays, swag bags for each shopper and chances to win door prizes.

Holiday Markets

This year has seen an exciting new collection of holiday markets taking place on weekends in Oro-Medonte.

The first annual Christmas Market at Quayle’s Brewery has been drawing weekend crowds with its collection of artisanal gift vendors, open-air beer garden, special holiday menu and more. Visit on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to join in the fun.

The Christmas Market at Braestone Farm is the perfect place to browse for elegant Christmas decorations, handmade jewelry, artisanal cuisine, local clothing brands, knitting, handmade décor signs, local artists, farm-fresh products, pottery and more. This family-friendly market takes place on Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Integrated Farms is holding a special holiday market featuring a range of high-quality, pasture-raised meats and more. Meet adorable farm animals and shop for premium chicken, 100 per cent grass-fed beef, heritage/pasture/forested pork, rabbit, eggs and more. Swing by the farm on Dec. 4 and 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and fill your fridge with mouthwatering grocery goodies.

A Merry Meal: Dining and Shopping in Oro-Medonte

Holiday shopping can be made even more enjoyable when you treat yourself to a meal at one of Oro-Medonte’s fabulous restaurants.

Book a table at Ktchn located at Braestone Club, for an upscale lunch or dinner with a spectacular ambiance and breathtaking view. Relax and dig into a tasty pub meal at HQ Restaurant & Taphouse or order take out from Loobies in Craighurst or the Crazy Horse Pub or ElevenO1 TapHouse & Kitchen at Horseshoe Resort.

Support local producers by purchasing their locally made products and giving unique gifts to family and friends this holiday season. Including bright and beautiful custom coasters from Art on Stone, delicious cheese from Say Cheese, tasty maple syrup from a number of producers, locally made honey and more.
