The North Simcoe People’s Party Electoral District Association has selected Stephen Makk, an engineer and businessman from Victoria Harbour, as the party’s candidate in the October 2019 federal election.

At a recent rally in the community of Coldwater, Stephen, who is a newcomer to politics, gave a rousing speech that gained support from many with his candid and refreshing perspective.

“The PPC is truly doing politics differently,” said Makk. “Like many Canadians, I felt that I had no ‘home’ in Canadian politics. That is, until Maxime Bernier got fed up with the machinations of the Conservative Party of Canada, for which he was the top leadership candidate, and took the bold step of forming a new Canadian party that focusses on individual liberty, free markets, open dialogue, direct connection with voters, government that sticks rigorously to its constitutional mandates, and government that avoids meddling in people’s lives.”

The People’s Party of Canada has already selected 271 candidates and amassed significant donations - growth that is unprecedented in Canadian history considering that the PPC was only registered as a party in September 2018.

Maxime Bernier, the leader of the PPC, has vowed to have candidates running in all 338 federal ridings and will demonstrate his prime-ministerial and statesmanlike qualities in the leaders’ debate this fall.

Stephen Makk moved to Victoria Harbour in 2017 and opened a high-tech electronics business there with his wife and two sons. He is a Professional Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in technical and executive management roles.

Stephen will be meeting with Simcoe North residents, scheduling speaking opportunities and attending multiple community events through the summer and fall leading up to election day on Oct. 21.

In one of his recent speeches, Stephen said, “I am proud to be representing the People’s Party of Canada. I believe the PPC represents the same values and perspectives of most Simcoe North residents - people who feel that the traditional political parties are ignoring their needs in favour of lobbyists and the political bureaucracy in general. The Liberals and Conservatives have become almost indistinguishable center-left authoritarians… pandering to special interests and following each other around fighting over the same centrist voters. It is time to try something different from the ‘same-old, same old’."
