Postal problems threw a wrench into Hospice Simcoe's annual appeal

Donations decrease while demand soars; organization appeals for help

NEWS RELEASE
HOSPICE SIMCOE
*************************
We are grateful to the many members of our community that make donations to Hospice Simcoe each year, particularly during our November/December Annual Appeal.

“With the recent irregular delivery from Canada Post, the amount of donations we have received for our Annual Appeal is significantly lower when compared to November in other years,” said Kelly Hubbard, executive director.

This past year we have responded to an ever-increasing demand, particularly for our bereavement programs, by offering more ways to receive support. Additional bereavement support groups have been added this year.

All our programs and services – residential hospice, home visiting hospice and bereavement support – are provided at no cost. But, naturally, serving more people requires more financial resources. This year, our fundraising target is $1.2 million.

We need your help! Please donate today to assist us in providing 24-hour quality palliative care to over 225 people each year and approximately 100 new bereavement and 100 new in-home visiting hospice clients. Give us a call at 705-722-5995, mail your cheque to Hospice Simcoe, 336 Penetanguishene Rd., Barrie, L4M 7C2 or donate online.

Hospice Simcoe provides end of life care to people in Simcoe County and supports their families.

Hospice Simcoe was founded in 1988 and opened our residential program in December of 2009. Last year, more than 800 people from across Simcoe County received support through our various programs, including 275 who received 24-hour nursing care at our 10-bed residence in Barrie.
