Regent Park student talks his way to top prize

Grade 7 student wins zone level thanks to his speech about the Stanley Cup

On Sunday, March 3, Regent Park Public School Grade 7 student Myles Odlozinski competed at the zone level of the Royal Canadian Legion Public Speaking Competition in Victoria Harbour.

In attendance were students representing Legion branches in Zone 4, including Angus, Barrie, Coldwater, New Lowell and Warminster.

This annual competition is part of the Legion’s Youth and Education program to provide young people with the opportunity to develop public speaking skills.

Odlozinski was awarded first place in the intermediate division (Grade 7-8) for his speech “Why the Stanley Cup is the BEST sports trophy”.

He now advances to the Area competition in Collingwood on March 24.
