Kate Marrs, the owner of Valley Croft Event Centre in Horseshoe Valley, presented cheques for $6,500 each to two charities this week, the result of a day of elopement weddings at her rustic barn wedding venue.

Seasons Centre for Grieving Children and Couchiching Jubilee House were both awarded proceeds from the fundraiser, which was held in May.

In all, 13 couples were married at the barn, each with their own distinct style, location, photographer, officiant, personal touches and Event Coordinator (Image by Design Events). It was a huge undertaking involving several organizers who donated their time to support two great causes.

“Funds will be used for our children’s recreational activities,” said Courtney Willis, Development Coordinator for Couchiching Jubilee House. “We want to ensure every child that comes through our doors has positive memories and fun experiences”.

Couchiching Jubilee House’s mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable women to improve their quality of life through a program of individualized support and transitional housing.
