Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) has received a $62,500 donation from Honda Canada Foundation, in support of the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Child and Youth Mental Health Program.

“We are so fortunate to have generous donors across the region who support and understand RVH’s regional role,” says John Byles, chair, RVH Foundation. “The Honda Canada Foundation understands the urgent need for care closer to home for children and youth in the region. The Honda Canada Foundation gift will directly impact youth in our region who need acute mental health care. ”

The unit features eight inpatient beds, child and youth friendly décor and a day program so kids can get the help they need and return home each night.

Child and Youth Mental Health is one of five areas of focus in the health centre’s Hearts & Minds campaign – along with advanced cardiac care, women’s cancer services and teaching and research. The campaign has recently achieved $24.5 million of its $25 million goal.

“We wholeheartedly support this health centre and are pleased this gift of funds will help bring mental health care closer to home for the youth in our region,” says Bill Easdale, senior vice president of Honda of Canada Mfg. and vice chair of the Honda Canada Foundation.”
