NEWS RELEASE
SIMCOE COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
*************************
The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is reaching out to partners and potential partners to share planning information and encourage potential partnerships. On May 29, individuals and organizations from across Simcoe County are invited to a Community Partnership Consultation.

Organizations and individuals attending this meeting will be presented with information about:

  • the SCDSB’s partnership policy
  • the definition of ‘viable partnerships’
  • general site and program characteristics for SCDSB schools
  • the Ministry of Education’s capital funding model
  • decision timelines

The Community Planning and Partnerships Guideline by the Ontario Ministry of Education encourages school boards to reach out to community organizations to share planning information on a regular basis to allow for potential collaboration that serves the best interests of boards, students and the community while optimizing the use of public assets.

This provides opportunities to share facilities when building and renovating schools and when considering the use of unoccupied space in schools and school properties that may be considered for future disposition.

The Community Partnerships Consultation is May 29 beginning at 6 p.m. at the SCDSB Education Centre. The Education Centre is located at 1170 Highway 26 in Midhurst.
