Sharing Place Food Centre reopening Wednesday morning

After closing for two days to prepare for pandemic, 'essential service to our members and the community' is ready to re-open
2019-06-13 Sharing Place open house 13
The Sharing Place Food Centre is located at 95 Dufferin St. Nathan Taylor/OrilliaMatters

At The Sharing Place our priority is the well-being of those who are food insecure, our volunteers, supporters, and our staff. We are committed to being proactive and responsible in responding to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.

We are adhering to the guidance of the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, evaluating and assessing procedures continuously.

We are pleased to inform you The Sharing Place is resuming operations effective Wednesday March 18, regular hours from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

In order to minimize risk of COVID 19 transmission, procedures will be significantly changed for the distribution of food to our members, and for the foreseeable future members will be served their food hampers without requiring access to the facility.

We are looking for support from our community to help us manage the increased need and maintain a safe environment to distribute food. As access to The Sharing Place will be strictly limited, we ask that instead of food donations people make financial donations via our website at

If food donations are required, they can be deposited at donation bins provided at local grocery stores. (No Frills, Zehrs, Metro, FoodLand, Walmart and Giant Tiger) This will allow us to manage these donations in a safe and responsible way.

We believe The Sharing Place is an essential service to our members and the community and it is our objective to continue to respond to the evolving situation and implement measures to minimize the risk of contracting COVID 19 and ensure social distancing.

Please refer to our website, to be informed of the ongoing status at the Food Bank.
