Shriners from far and wide delight in Saturday parade (9 photos)

The parade is part of the Rameses Shrine Temple’s annual Ceremonial

Hundreds of Rameses Shriners Temple club members paraded through Orillia on Saturday. The Toronto-based Shriners brought in members from over 30 clubs to Simcoe North.

The parade started at Brant Street East and Park Street and ended at the Masonic Temple on James Street.

The parade is part of the Rameses Shrine Temple’s annual Ceremonial, taking place from Thursday to Sunday. It’s a way of increasing camaraderie among fellow club members while bringing community members some entertainment on a spring day.

The Shriners operate 22 hospitals in North America, with one in Montreal and one in Mexico, and the remaining all over the United States of America. They raise funds throughout the year and use the money to provide support to kids and families in need of specialized medical treatment, such as burns.
