Six charged in Orillia drug bust

On Aug. 16, the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made several arrests in relation to the sale of illicit drugs within the City or Orillia.

The Orillia OPP Community Street Crime Unit along with Orillia OPP members, Central Region Emergency Response Unit and Central Region Canine executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at an Atherley Road address.

As a result of the investigation police seized a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and cash.

Police arrested and charged six people with drug-related offences.

Katie Guest, age 27, of Orillia has been charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

  • Two counts of trafficking of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on a promise to appear for Sept. 24 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.

Cristoffer Pope, age 19, of York has been charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

  • Two counts of trafficking of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on a promise to appear for Sept. 24 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.

Alycia Shilling, age 28, of Rama has been charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

  • Two counts of trafficking of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was released on a promise to appear for Sept. 24 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.

Amanda Watson, age 37, of Gravenhurst has been charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

  • Two counts of trafficking of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was released on a promise to appear for Sept. 24 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.

Donovan Place, age 27, of Brock Township has been charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

  • Two counts of trafficking of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was held in custody and remanded until Aug. 20 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie for a bail hearing.

Joshua Vanvield, age 27, of York has been charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

  • Two counts of trafficking of a Schedule I substance contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

  • Breach of recognizance contrary to Section 811 of the Criminal Code.

The accused was held in custody and remanded until Aug. 20 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie for a bail hearing.
