ORILLIA TENNIS CLUB

The Orillia Tennis Club, which is headquartered at the four courts outside Rotary Place, recently capped its 2018 season with a championship day and season-ending gathering that included a presentation of awards.
The Orillia Tennis Club prides itself with fostering a healthy and active lifestyle (as many members are retired), while providing members an opportunity to improve their skills, and have some fun. New members are always welcome.
Here’s a recap of the winners.
The men's singles title was won by Eric Koehli, who defeated his father, Peter Koehli, for the crown. Peter is our resident pro and teaches several tennis clinics. The consolation champ was Paul Miller.
The Koehlis teamed up to win the Men's Doubles title. They defeated Jeff Booth and John Jackson. The consolation title was earned by Paul Miller and Nick Goa.
In men's doubles B level action, Kevin Smith and Apurva Patel defeated Fred James and Gerald Levine to earn the title. The consolation crown went to Walter Cole and David Daniel.
Wendy Slattery and Nadine Deschenes teamed up to win the women's doubles A level title. They defeated Kate Berry and Sue Stacey. Liddy Wesselingh and Vera Mader won the consolation match.
In women's doubles B level, action, the winners were Liz Brownlee and Shannon Kearns. Runners up were Anita Nicholls and Lyn French. The consolation title went to Jill Garrod and Debbie Sheffield.
In mixed doubles A level competition, Peter Koehli and Wendy Slattery earned the title, defeating Jeff Booth and Sue Stacey, while Joe Sheik and Margie McParland earned consolation honours.
In mixed doubles B level action, the winners were Liz and Ken Brownlee, who defeated Kate and Kevin Smith. Anita Nicholls and Bill Mah earned the consolation title.
