Suspects sought after two Orillia businesses burglarized (3 photos)

Mr. Sub owner says he feels 'violated' by break-in, theft late Monday night

Police are looking for suspects after two businesses were burglarized late Monday night.

Marcus Sadeghi, owner of Mr. Sub in the Fittons West Plaza, was awakened just after midnight and was informed his store had been broken into and money was stolen.

Sadeghi said it appeared two people rode up on bicycles and picked the lock minutes before midnight.

A few minutes later, one person entered the store, jumped the counter and took off with the cash drawer, which contained a few hundred dollars. Around the same time, he said, Le Nails, next door to Mr. Sub, was also broken into and had money stolen.

“Being a small business to begin with is a difficult task,” he said. “I felt more violated than anything that someone would enter my property and steal stuff.”

The “headache” cost him more than a few hundred bucks. He had to pay to have his lock repaired and he figures he lost at least $200 in business as he had to turn customers away Tuesday morning while police investigated.

Orillia OPP confirmed two businesses had been burglarized, but they did not have descriptions of the suspects.

Images from the surveillance cameras at Mr. Sub show what appears to be a man in a dark hoodie with a white stripe, or white stripes, on the sleeves and light-coloured pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestopperssdm.com.
