Have you heard the news? A Technicolor Dreamcoat is coming to Orillia.

St. Paul’s United Church, with the help of over 100 volunteers, is bringing the beloved musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, with music by Andrew Lloyd Weber and lyrics by Tim Rice, to St. Paul’s Centre. There will be five performances in four days, from April 3 to April 6.

The ‘all-star’ intergenerational cast includes Michael Abernethy and Josh Halbot, well-known to Mariposa Arts Theatre audiences. Julia Johnston, a relative newcomer to Orillia and area, and owner of Express Yourself Performing Arts, will be featured as the narrator.

Dream team Blair Bailey as music director, Jody Maltby as director, and Kim Kush as choreographer are working their performers hard and the results will need to be seen to be believed. There are 60 members in the cast including a children’s chorus and they have all been rehearsing since before Christmas to bring this high-quality production to appreciative Orillia audiences.

A highlight will be Joseph’s technicolour dreamcoat, custom made by local designer Erin Hawke. Patrons will enjoy wonderful musical numbers like Go, Go, Go Joseph and Any Dream Will Do. The audience will also have the opportunity to sing along with a medley of songs from the show, in the grand finale ‘mega mix.’
