Toni Braxton movie wraps up after filming near downtown Barrie

The Fallen Angels Book Club stars seven-time Grammy winner as an ex-con turned amateur sleuth who investigates a string of murders

Barrie seemed like Hollywood North on Wednesday as production on a Toni Braxton movie took over the city marina parking lot on Lakeshore Drive and the Chase McEachern Way parking lot.

The Fallen Angels Book Club, which is the working title, is a movie series event starring seven-time Grammy Award winner Toni Braxton as Hollis Morgan, an ex-con turned amateur sleuth who sets out to investigate a string of murders at her book club.

A representative from the production company said Wednesday was the last day of the public shoot before the production will be moving inside Brain Power's private studio space.

Braxton is also set to executive produce both films.

The film is set to debut in 2022.

Several trailers, trucks, film equipment and tents could be seen in downtown Barrie's Chase McEachern Way parking lot throughout the day, with some filming occurring farther along the lakeshore at the marina parking lot.

The Fallen Angels Book Club marks Braxton’s return to Lifetime after she executive produced and starred in the 2016 ratings hit Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart and 2018’s Faith Under Fire: The Antoinette Tuff Story and Every Day is Christmas

The Fallen Angels Book Club films fall in line with Lifetime’s Broader Focus initiative, which supports the hiring of women in key production roles, says the production company rep

The movies are produced for Lifetime by Brain Power Studio and executive produced by Beth Stevenson, Nancy Yeaman, Rhonda Baraka and Braxton.

The films are written by Baraka, who will also direct the first installment of the movies.

Brain Power Studio is a Canadian-based media company that develops, produces, finances and distributes premium live-action and animated projects for the global marketplace.

Brain Power’s long-form movie production slate includes more than 40 current titles.
