WWE’s invasion of Toronto this past week for Raw and SmackDown Live was full of excitement and had moments that endure.
Expectations of WWE programming sky-rocket when they are live from Canada, because the fans here are always extremely passionate, vocal and, at times, rowdy and the WWE knows they have to be at their best.
WWE has acknowledged the diehard support they have received from across the border, so much so that they are rewarding Toronto with arguably the second biggest event on the WWE calendar: Summerslam.
Toronto’s Scotia Bank Arena will host Summerslam Aug. 10-13, 2019. The event will include four WWE broadcasts including, NXT TakeOver, Raw and SmackDown Live.
In recent years, WWE has set up a fan expo during the weekend, where fans can meet their favourite WWE superstars and take part in WWE festivities.
Notably, Summerslam spent the last four years in Brooklyn, New York. Previous to that, Summerslam took place in Los Angeles, California for six straight years. There is no indication yet that Toronto will host Summerslam past 2019, but if previous trends prevail, Ontario’s wrestling fans are going to be treated for quite some time, especially considering New York, which is "losing" Summerslam, is getting an upgrade to Wrestlemania.
The countdown to Summerslam 2019 is already on for WWE’s fans from Toronto and surrounding area, and the anticipation for the event will certainly ramp up in the months ahead.
Will you be attending the festivities next summer?
