This past weekend, Dec. 3 and 4, the Orillia Lakers U14 Girls #1 team travelled to Lakefield for the six-team Electric City Classic.
The girls relied on a heavy dose of full court pressure and some timely scoring to complete the round robin portion 3-0.
They started with a hard fought 41-34 victory over the Toronto Lords, then overcame a slow first half to finish off Grimsby 29-10, before dispatching Scarborough Blues 44-16.
This led to a gold medal matchup with local rivals the Barrie Royals.
In the finals, the girls battled to the end, eventually falling 44-21 to finish second.
The girls head back into the OBL this weekend in Stouffville with games against the Toronto Triple Threat and Markham.
The team sent out a special thanks to sponsors John Mayo, Dan Parnell, and KRS Crane.
