Dr. Stanley Liu, Sunnybrook Hospital’s leading prostate cancer researcher, will be the speaker for the Orillia Prostate Cancer Awareness group’s next meeting on, Tuesday, Oct. 23.

The aim of Liu's research is to improve treatment outcomes for cancer patients by uncovering the mechanisms of tumour radiation resistance.

More than 50% of cancer patients will receive radiotherapy sometime during their treatment; thus, it is important to research ways to improve the efficacy of this treatment.

Liu will talk about his extensive DNA research to identify the best treatment for each patient and cancel treatments that won't work.

The meeting will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34, located at 215 Mississaga St. E. All are welcome to attend. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with the speaker coming on at 7 p.m.

Light refreshments will be provided.
