MIDLAND - Winter has arrived here in North Simcoe and drivers and pedestrians need to seasonally adjust their thoughts on how to make it to and from work safely with the onset of snow and icy conditions. These winter conditions require drivers to allow more time for their vehicle to stop and start from a stopped position.

Pedestrians are reminded that drivers may have a limited visibility due to blowing snow and that they need to double check before crossing the road as winter clothing may hinder their visibility or hearing of an approaching vehicle.

"Please allow yourself extra driving time and remember your winter driving skills to reach to your destination safely and to avoid a winter travelling tragedy" says interim Detachment Commander Inspector Joseph Evans.

Drivers are reminded to keep clear all windows and headlights of snow and frost and to adjust their driving habits for winter road conditions. Please view the following link for more information on winter driving and road conditions on Provincial Highways - https://511on.ca/.

Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our trails, roadways and waterways. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.
