'Our organization is strong and will be back stronger when it is safe to do so,' said club president who noted full refunds will be issued

Over the last three months the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the lives of all Canadians in a variety of ways.

The normal we once knew has been changed and impacted our lives from the way we interact with people, buy our groceries and our ability to participate in sports.

Throughout the spring the Executive Board of the Orillia & District Soccer Club (ODSC) has followed the impacts of the COVID-19 situation in Ontario very closely to determine the future of the 2020 ODSC Soccer season.

It is with regret the ODSC has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 outdoor soccer season. As a Board we feel keeping our members, families, and our community safe is of the utmost importance.

We cannot in good conscience plan for a soccer season and put anyone at risk. Playing soccer at this time would not be in the best interest of players, coaches, volunteers and referees.

As a result of this decision ODSC will be issuing full refunds to all participants using the method in which we received payment. These refunds will commence in the coming week so please monitor your accounts or the mail for your refund.

The process could take some time so please be patient and if you have not received your refund within two weeks please contact the club via email.

We encourage ODSC members to continue to train safely on their own. ODSC anticipates in the coming weeks Canada Soccer will provide a directive in how to safely reopen a return to play.

Should the opportunity arise to offer some sort of soccer program prior to the end of the summer, ODSC will evaluate all options and consider soccer programming.

This information will be communicated to the membership as soon as we have a plan to ensure the safety of all members.

"I would like to thank all our sponsors who provide the support to ensure these programs take place. Without these businesses we would not be able to operate an amazing soccer program and withstand these turbulent times," said Mark Doubrough, the club's president.

Please take a moment to visit our website and see our sponsors and if you are able to, please support them as they have us. Thank you all for your patience during these uncertain times.

"Our organization is strong and will be back stronger when it is safe to do so," said Doubrough.
